Ear syringing is commonly performed in General Practice.
It is done to remove any build-up of ear wax. An excess of earwax can cause hearing impairment, ringing in the ears and even earache.
It’s important that the wax is soft to make the procedure as comfortable and effective as possible. We recommend using medicated l drops, three times per day in the affected ear and repeat for five to seven days before your appointment. This will make the procedure easier and also lessen the risk of any complications, such as perforating the eardrum. It is not advisable to do ear syringing if any concerns regarding infection. Therefore, please contact the surgery if you have booked syringing and have any symptoms of infection.
