Dr. Ursula Scullion

Originally from Bellaghy, Co. Derry, Ursula graduated from Queens University Belfast in 1993 with distinction.

She completed her GP training in Edinburgh in 1997and has worked full-time as a GP since.

Her qualifications include MRCGP and she has diplomas in Child Health, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Geriatric Medicine and family planning.

She worked in rural Australia as a GP for three years after completing training where she gained huge experience in working in remote areas.  Before returning to Ireland, she worked for six months in East Timor as a medical coordinator in the emergency relief program which followed their war of independence. After she returned to Northern Ireland and worked as a GP partner in Maghera, Co. Derry.

She moved south in 2004 and took over the practice of Dr. Patrick Scully in 2006.  She practiced in Abbeydorney with two branch surgeries in Ardfert and Ballyheigue.  In 2015 she amalgamated the list vacated in Ballyheigue with her own and employed Dr. Brid Walsh and the practice became a full-time busy two centre practice employing a full complement of staff.

Ursula worked as a single handed practitioner for years and is comfortable with all aspects of General Practice but has a special interest in family planning including procedures and also minor surgery.

She also takes a keen interest in medical education, and is a trainer in the SWGP training scheme since 2007.  She is also a tutor for UL Post Graduate Medical Students who are attached to the practice on a regular basis.

Ursula lives on the family farm in Abbeydorney and takes a keen interest in local activities.
